In a strategic move to bolster the field of education, King Saud University and the Saleh Abdullah Kamel Humanitarian Foundation have officially entered into a partnership by signing an agreement to support the implementation of the “International Professional Certificates in Teaching” (IPTC) project. The signing ceremony took place today at the university’s headquarters in Riyadh.
Under the terms of the agreement, King Saud University, represented by the King Abdullah Institute for Research and Consulting Studies, commits to providing scientific support for the IPTC project. This initiative seeks to revolutionize professional development for curriculum implementers and developers, including teachers and educational specialists, by introducing a new paradigm through professional certificates, namely the International Professional Certificate in Teaching.
Dr. Badran Al-Omar, the President of King Saud University, highlighted the significance of this collaboration, emphasizing the alignment of the university’s knowledge expertise with the private and non-profit sectors to achieve shared objectives in accordance with Saudi Vision 2030. He noted that this agreement reflects the Kingdom’s commitment, as articulated by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, to enhance Saudi Arabia’s global humanitarian impact, particularly in the realm of human capability development.
Abdullah Saleh Kamel, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Saleh Abdullah Kamel Humanitarian Foundation, expressed the Foundation’s vision of supporting sustainable endowment projects and maximizing the impact of educational outcomes. He emphasized the pivotal role of teachers as the cornerstone of the educational process.
The initial phase of the IPTC project aims to qualify approximately 2,000 male and female teachers in the Arab Republic of Egypt. The project aims to establish a comprehensive system for the development of teachers through a professional certification model, providing programs that equip educators with the necessary competencies across various specializations and fields.
Collaborating to bring the IPTC project to fruition are four key alliances: King Saud University, renowned for its global expertise in professional development; ISESCO, encompassing 54 Islamic countries; the Saleh Abdullah Kamel Humanitarian Foundation, serving as the project’s strategic partner with its generous support; and the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education, contributing its expertise to project implementation in Egypt.
The IPTC project is founded on a contemporary scientific and educational intellectual framework. It adopts the latest trends in professional competencies and skills, addressing the performance gap between university academic preparation and the experiential requirements of the labor market. The scientific framework for competencies is built in accordance with the best international references.
