Jeddah – November 2, 2023
In alignment with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to foster scientific innovation, Dar Al-Hekma University proudly announces the launch of the “Mayda Mohieddin Nazer Innovation Award.” Sponsored by the Saleh Abdullah Kamel Humanitarian Foundation, the award aims to recognize and reward exceptional innovation in three key tracks: revitalizing the Arabic language, enhancing the quality of life for the visually impaired and the elderly, and advancing efficiency in the religious tourism sector (Hajj and Umrah).
The inaugural ceremony, held at Dar Al-Hekma University in Jeddah, witnessed the Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Saleh Abdullah Kamel Humanitarian Foundation, Mr. Mohieddin Kamel, presenting awards to the outstanding winners. The ceremony, attended by senior officials, educators, and the families of the winning students, took place at the university theater on the first Wednesday of November.
Mohieddin Saleh Kamel, in his address, emphasized the significance of fostering innovative values, a core focus of Saudi Vision 2030 for sustainable development. He highlighted the national aspirations and priorities for research, development, and innovation set by His Highness the Crown Prince, expressing the commitment to enhance Saudi Arabia’s global competitiveness over the next two decades.
Speaking about the award, Mr. Mohieddin stated, “Last year, we introduced an award named after our esteemed mother, Mrs. Mayda Mohieddin Nazer, aimed at recognizing creative students from Dar Al-Hekma University in line with our family’s commitment to philanthropy.” He further announced the expansion of the award to include students from across the Kingdom, employing a hackathon model to encourage a broader culture of innovation.
Mr. Mohieddin expressed gratitude to the academic team overseeing the award for their dedicated efforts in upholding scientific and professional standards, ensuring the award aligns with the best international practices in recognizing innovation.
